Wheelwright Campout

10/26/2013 – 10/27/2013

This year, many scouts attended the fall Wheelwright Trip: Brodie Jackisch, Jason Conforti, Jeff Rosen, Joe Donohue, Joe Suzedell, Josh Liberty, Marcus Rowland, Sully Mulhern, Tommy Olson, Tyler Holley,  and Tyler Mulhern. It was just like any other camping trip; unique in a great way. This was the first trip Marcus was able to go on again after injuring his leg. This was one of the best Wheelwright trips we’ve ever been on!

MassJam

10/12/2013 – 10/14/2013

MassJam is the Massachusetts state Boy Scout Jamboree. Scouts from all councils in Massachusetts came to participate. There were many scouts that attended; Adam Koropey, Alex Fever, Brent Landquist, Dylan Marat, Eoghan Casey, George Bryan, Jeff Rosen, Joe Suzedell, Josh Rosen, Liam Geyer, and Tommy Olson.

Adult volunteers included: Mr. Hillman, Mr. Landquist, Mr. Marat, and Mrs. Rosen. We left early in the morning, with all the scouts and gear. We arrived in traffic (all of which were boy scouts) and set up camp shortly thereafter. We went to some of the stations, and explored the complex. There were also trading cards given out to everybody. Each of the cards had a different council patch. Later that night, at our camp area’s projection screen, three of us watched the movie ‘National Treasure’ along with other troops from the state. The next day we did a few more stations and traded more cards. Lunch was provided for a low price at the trading post. At night, there was a “celebrity” singer, who had been at other camporees and jamborees before. I say “celebrity” in quotation because nobody had ever herd of her and they dreaded her singing. She also sang a song called “I want to be a girly, girl,” and had everybody sing along. It was a little awkward for her to be here in the first place, but it was fun anyway. We left early the next morning with a small breakfast (cereal, breakfast bars, etc.), arriving soon after. Everybody loved it!

Cape Cod Rail Trail

09/28/2013 – 09/29/2013

This fall, there were 26 scouts and 10 adults that attended the trip, more than there ever has been in decades. Those scouts and adults included Nick Rosen, John Clay, Sam Greenip, Levente Haber, Adam Koropey, Dylan Marat, George Bryan, Ryan Conforti, David Hillman, Liam Geyer, Quentin Hill, Brent Landquist, Sully Mulhern, Eoghan Casey, Jason Conforti, Tyler Mulhern, Tommy Olson, Kevin Perrone, Joe Suzedell, Aleks Fever, Jeff Rosen, Tyler Holley, Mr. Hill, Mr. Hillman, Mr. Marat, Mr. Olson, and Mr. Suzedell. We met at the scout locker the previous Thursday to plan the trip; tenting arrangements, meals etc. Most bikes stayed at the locker until we met back on Saturday to load the gear. It was about an hour’s drive to the parking lot at Nickerson State Park. We waited a short time for scouts to unload bikes and go to the restroom. We biked for miles until we reached the end where some of us purchased snacks. After a small break, we rode to the beach on the road. We had lunch here, then some scouts played football, but many just relaxed and enjoyed the break. Eventually we left, and rode miles and miles again to the campsite, which was not to far from where we had started. We set up tents, started a fire, and cooked dinner. We woke up the next morning to great weather, just like the day before. We took down tents, started another fire, and cooked breakfast. We left shortly after that. We didn’t go to far the second day, only to the ice cream shop, then we turned around. We returned to the locker after another hour drive and unloaded the gear. This is when most scouts returned home. All of the scouts enjoyed the trip. There were three minor accidents (Nick, Aleks, and Me), but all victims were able to remain on the trip.
