Mt. Abram Ski Trip

From January 17 – 19, 2020, Troop 28 went on its annual ski trip to Mt. Abram in Maine. We drove up north Friday evening after school got out. When we arrived, we set up our beds so we could be well-rested for a day of skiing. On Saturday morning, we got up nice and early so we could hit the slopes. It was chilly outside with the temperature being about three degrees (F) in the morning but it warmed up later in the day to be about 14 degrees (F). The skiing was ok, it could have been much better. Not many trails were open and there was lots of ice. Many scouts participated in the Snow Sports Merit Badge which they learned for future snow sport activities. When we returned back to the place we were staying, a legion hall about two miles away from the ski mountain, we were all tired. Before we all went to sleep for the night, we played many board games. These include Uno, Poker, Battleship, Old Maid, Exploding Kittens and many more. The next day was Sunday and it was the day we were leaving to head back to Cohasset. Before we went to the mountain, we packed up our gear and put it in the cars so we could leave to head back right for Mt. Abram. That night, there was a snowstorm that brought down seven inches of fresh snow. This snow-covered much of the ice and more runs were open to ski on. Also, the temperature was much warmer, at about 32 degrees (F). The only bad thing was the lines for the chairlifts. There were about six times the amount of people the day before. They had to open the T-bar lift because there were so many people. The powder was great for some scouts but sometimes difficult for others. Along the way, we met many new people from troop 77, Canton who was sharing the legion hall with us and other skiers enjoying Mt. Abram. Overall, the trip was a success and each scout got to ski. This was a great scout trip to start the decade.

Cape Cod Rail Trail

09/24/2016 – 09/25/2016

We arrived in Cape Cod at 1 pm then we biked the north part of the trail which was about 22 miles in total. After the scenic trip we went to our campsite and setup camp. The next day we biked the South side of the trail. Which was about 17 miles in total. We had cold cuts that day and headed back to Cohasset at noon.

This Year at Camp Squanto we stayed there for 6 days. We had colors then Merit badge classes after that we had patrol war activities. Where we competed against other patrols at Squanto. After that we had open areas where some of us went to the Rifle range, waterfront, handy craft, scoutcraft or the museum.
