Cape Cod Rail Trail

09/28/2013 – 09/29/2013

This fall, there were 26 scouts and 10 adults that attended the trip, more than there ever has been in decades. Those scouts and adults included Nick Rosen, John Clay, Sam Greenip, Levente Haber, Adam Koropey, Dylan Marat, George Bryan, Ryan Conforti, David Hillman, Liam Geyer, Quentin Hill, Brent Landquist, Sully Mulhern, Eoghan Casey, Jason Conforti, Tyler Mulhern, Tommy Olson, Kevin Perrone, Joe Suzedell, Aleks Fever, Jeff Rosen, Tyler Holley, Mr. Hill, Mr. Hillman, Mr. Marat, Mr. Olson, and Mr. Suzedell. We met at the scout locker the previous Thursday to plan the trip; tenting arrangements, meals etc. Most bikes stayed at the locker until we met back on Saturday to load the gear. It was about an hour’s drive to the parking lot at Nickerson State Park. We waited a short time for scouts to unload bikes and go to the restroom. We biked for miles until we reached the end where some of us purchased snacks. After a small break, we rode to the beach on the road. We had lunch here, then some scouts played football, but many just relaxed and enjoyed the break. Eventually we left, and rode miles and miles again to the campsite, which was not to far from where we had started. We set up tents, started a fire, and cooked dinner. We woke up the next morning to great weather, just like the day before. We took down tents, started another fire, and cooked breakfast. We left shortly after that. We didn’t go to far the second day, only to the ice cream shop, then we turned around. We returned to the locker after another hour drive and unloaded the gear. This is when most scouts returned home. All of the scouts enjoyed the trip. There were three minor accidents (Nick, Aleks, and Me), but all victims were able to remain on the trip.

Canoe Trip

09/14/2013 – 09/15/2015

This fall, there were 13 scouts and 5 adult volunteers that attended this trip. This list includes Eoghan Casey, John Clay, Ian Dunkleburger, Aleks Fever, Quentin Hill, Brent Landquist, Josh Liberty, Max Nakashima, Jeff Rosen, Nick Rosen, Marcus Rowland, Joe Suzedell, Mr. Ackley, Mr. Hill, Mr. Hillman, Mr. Nakashima, and Rue Wilson. We met at the locker the previous meeting to plan tenting arrangements, meals, etc. We met at the locker Saturday morning to load gear. After a short drive to the boat ramp by the Taunton River, scouts played football to pass the time. Unfortunately, during the game, Marcus broke a bone in his lower leg and had to leave. As of our last meeting, he is well on his way to recovery. The waters were calm, and we arrived at the site just hours later after stopping for lunch. Though we had periods of clouds, we were fortunate to have no rain. Most scouts slept well, and the next morning we packed, took down our tents, and made a delicious breakfast, and soon left for the scout locker. Most scouts enjoyed the trip.

Camp Squanto

07/21/2013 – 07/27/2013

This year there were 21 scouts from Troop 28 that attended camp as well as some adult volunteers. These scouts included Zander Arnold, George Bryan, Eoghan Casey, John Clay, T.J. Coffey, Joe Donoghue, Gavin Dunkelburger, Ian Dunkelburger, Sam Franklin, Liam Geyer, Brodie Jackish, Brent Landquist, Josh Liberty, Sully Mulhern, Tyler Mulhern, Luke O’Brien, Tommy Olson, Kevin Perrone, Jeff Rosen, Marcus Rowland, Joe Suzedell, and Amby Tierney.

There was a Pre-Camp meeting at Mr. Hillman’s house on July 8th. Here we turned in our medical forms, signed up for merit badges, and purchased new class B T-shirts. Then on July 18, scouts worked on the gateway for this year’s theme night (sports) at Mr. Hill’s house.

On Sunday, July 21, we met at camp at 12:45pm. Sam, Josh, and Jeff did Flight to Eagle, and most of the Spartan patrol did environmental science and swimming merit badges. We all enjoyed the great opening and closing campfire skits this year. Some days were rainy, some cold but we still had a good week.
