You will need your BSA ID to register.  If you do not know your BSA ID, look for the email from Mr. Hillman and reply to that and he will send it to you.  We will distribute membership cards containing your ID number at the meeting this Thursday.

For those who were unable to attend, or who want some additional information about the Jamboree, please see the information below

Who can go?
Any Scout that is 12 years old or has completed the 6th grade.  The Scout must also have attained the rank of 1st Class, very doable for a Scout that is stays involved.  As I said, it is 1 1/2 years away.

What is it?
It is the largest jamboree in the country with over 25,000 Scouts and Adult leaders from around the country.  It is so large that it is only held every 4 years.  The event will last for 10 days, plus 2 days travel. The trip down will include a visit to Gettysburg and an overnight in Harrisonburg ,VA.  The return trip will include a stop at Hershey Park and an overnight in Harrisburg, PA.

What is at the jamboree?
The jamboree includes everything that you will find at a traditional jamboree such as: merit badges, archery, shooting, swimming and other aquatic activities, patch trading, making friends, lots of fun, etc.  The jamboree also includes some high adventure activities such as mountain biking, high ropes, zip lines, etc.  You can get more information about the jamboree form the national website
.  You can also check out the video on YouTube

How do we travel and live?
We will be travel together as a Troop made up of 36 Scouts and 4 Adults. All of the Scouts from Norwell will stay together and be grouped with Scouts and Adults from surrounding towns. We will stay together as a Troop in our own Campsite.  Scouts will be 2 to a tent.  We will prepare our own meals, breakfast and dinner.  Lunches will be bagged as all Scouts will be out enjoying the activities all day long.

What is the cost?
The cost is $1950 per Scout and will require a $300 deposit.  It will also require registering on the national site
.  Old Colony Council is currently working to put together a program where Scouts can do their own fundraising to assist in the cost.

When do we need to know if you want to go?
Sooner rather than later. There may be issues with available slots with our Council if you do not sign up soon.
