The RTF is the troop’s primary fundraising activity and is used to support annual scout registration costs, troop equipment, supplies, monthly camping trips, and helps offset the cost of summer camp. Collecting and organizing returnable cans and plastic bottles at the Cohasset transfer station generates much of the funds necessary to support all the activities troop plans throughout the year. This role also provides a community service that scouts are involved with and is just another way to connect with the town’s residence.
We are returning to an inclusive approach that is different than the assigned scout shifts pre-Covid. You can choose the shift that you are available for over the next 3 months. It will be a first come first serve signup process using the link below. If a scout does not sign up they will be contacted and assigned a shift. So check your schedules and sign up as soon possible.
Important change: Each scout in Troop 28 will need to complete a two hour shift with an adult (parent, guardian, sibling 18 or older). Scouts cannot work their shift without a parent/guardian present for the entire shift, as required as part of BSA’s youth protection policy.
As many of you know, March is typically Merit Badge University (MBU) month where the Mayflower Council provides special programming allowing scouts to earn up to 3 merit badges. Since the Council is not offering the program this year, we are going to run our own Mini MBU at the scout locker and scouts can sign up online. Registration Deadline is March 2nd
MBU Dates: Saturday, March 12th and Saturday, April 2nd (must be available on both days)
MBU Location: Scout Locker – Basement in back of Deer Hill school
