This year on November 5-6 the troop went to Franconia Notch in New Hampshire instead of the Mt. Monadnock Trip because roads were closed due to heavy snow in the park.  A total of 18 scouts participated.

We departed from Cohasset early Saturday morning.  When we arrived at Franconia State Park we set up camp and after lunch, got right to hiking. As we neared the top of the trail we started to encounter snow and ice which can be dangerous if you are not paying attention.  That night we went night hiking by the river next to the campsite, which was a lot of fun.

The next day, Sunday, we climbed up alongside a series of beautiful waterfalls which made the steep ascent well worth the energy spent getting there.  This was a great trip because it’s really what scouting is all about – cooking, making camp, sleeping in typical November conditions in New England.

Respectfully submitted,

Dylan Marat
