- Wadleigh Park at the intersection of Forest Avenue and Jerusalem Road in Cohasset
- Opposite 151 Atlantic Avenue in Hull
Trash bags will be provided. Work gloves, long pants, long sleeves are suggested.
Groups will also be clearing Rocky Beach, ponds in Hingham, the Weir River Estuary Center and surrounding grounds and Rockland street from west corner to George Washington Blvd.
Reward: Free Picnic with Ice Cream form Nona’s
- High noon at the Basketball Court / Playground on Atlantic Avenue in Hull across from the Pond
The Troop will be attending the Cranberry Harbors Spring Camporee on Friday, May 13 to Sunday, May 15 at Camp Buxton in Rehoboth, Mass. We will leave Cohasset around 5:30 on Friday and return by around Noon on Sunday.
At the Camporee, our troop will be tenting and cooking in our own area at Camp Buxton. During the day on Saturday, there will be a competition between troops themed around basic scouting skills. Our scouts, grouped by patrols, will participate in activities that include a Pioneering (including building a catapult), a First Aid relay, trail signs and signals, some sort of “river crossing” involving barrels and a piece of plywood. It should be fun.
ALL scouts should download the outline of the skills. The Troop will be going over these skills at the next three meetings, along with planning for the campout and general advancement.
The Troop needs to reserve slots by May 1st. Please sign up at the meeting this Thursday or by responding to the email you will receive from Dave Hillman. The Troop will pay the $15 camporee fee. Each scout attending will pay $5.00, for which you will receive a Scout stave to prepare as illustrated in the outline of skills. Some scheduling conflicts can be accommodated for this event – if you need to come down early on Saturday, that will be okay (it is about 70 minutes away – near Camp Squanto).
