As part of earning the Catholic religious emblem for high school aged scouts, nine scouts conducted a perishable food drive on Sunday March 13th. The outpouring of support was amazing and in just two and a half hours hundreds of pounds of potatoes, onions, carrots, apples, oranges, grapes and bananas were collected for the Cohasset Food Pantry. Said Tommy Olson, ” We asked shoppers if they could add one item to their cart and provided a shopping list. It’s awesome how much we were able to collect by asking each person to give just a little.”
Perishables are both difficult to collect and much appreciated by local families according to the Food Pantry director, Jane Corry.
